Surah 11 Hud, ayah 8 (11:8)

Ayah 11:8

وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُودَةٍ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُۥٓ أَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفًا عَنْهُمْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ۝٨

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWalain akhkharna AAanhumu alAAathaba ila ommatin maAAdoodatin layaqoolunna ma yahbisuhu ala yawma yateehim laysa masroofan AAanhum wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

English · Saheeh InternationalAnd if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

German · Bubenheim & ElyasUnd wenn Wir ihnen die Strafe für einen bestimmten Zeitraum zurückstellen, sagen sie ganz gewiß: "Was hält sie zurück?" Wahrlich, am Tag, an dem sie über sie kommt, kann sie nicht von ihnen abgewendet werden, und es wird sie das umschließen, worüber sie sich lustig zu machen pflegten.
