Surah 4 An-Nisaa, ayah 3 (4:3)

Ayah 4:3

وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا۟ فِى ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ فَٱنكِحُوا۟ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ مَثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا۟۝٣

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWain khiftum alla tuqsitoo fee alyatama fainkihoo ma taba lakum mina alnnisai mathna wathulatha warubaAAa fain khiftum alla taAAdiloo fawahidatan aw ma malakat aymanukum thalika adna alla taAAooloo

English · Saheeh InternationalAnd if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].

German · Bubenheim & ElyasUnd wenn ihr befürchtet, nicht gerecht hinsichtlich der Waisen zu handeln, dann heiratet, was euch an Frauen gut scheint, zwei, drei oder vier. Wenn ihr aber befürchtet, nicht gerecht zu handeln, dann (nur) eine oder was eure rechte Hand besitzt. Das ist eher geeignet, daß ihr nicht ungerecht seid.
