Surah 7 Al-A'raaf, ayah 173 (7:173)

Ayah 7:173

أَوْ تَقُولُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَشْرَكَ ءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ۝١٧٣

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilAw taqooloo innama ashraka abaona min qablu wakunna thurriyyatan min baAAdihim afatuhlikuna bima faAAala almubtiloona

English · Saheeh InternationalOr [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?"

German · Bubenheim & Elyasoder (auch) nicht sagt: "Unsere Väter gesellten doch zuvor (Allah) Teilhaber zu, und wir sind (nur) eine Nachkommenschaft nach ihnen. Willst du uns vernichten für das, was diejenigen getan haben, die Nichtiges tun?"
