Surah 8 Al-Anfaal, ayah 34 (8:34)

Ayah 8:34

وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ۝٣٤

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumu Allahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharami wama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illa almuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona

English · Saheeh InternationalBut why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al- Haram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know.

German · Bubenheim & ElyasUnd was haben sie nun, daß Allah sie nicht strafen sollte, wo sie (euch) von der geschützten Gebetsstätte abhalten? Und sie waren nicht ihre Beschützer. Ihre Beschützer sind ja nur die Gottesfürchtigen'! Aber die meisten von ihnen wissen nicht.
