Surah 3 Aal-i-Imraan, ayah 167 (3:167)

Ayah 3:167

وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ قَٰتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُوا۟ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًا لَّٱتَّبَعْنَٰكُمْ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَٰنِ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ۝١٦٧

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWaliyaAAlama allatheena nafaqoo waqeela lahum taAAalaw qatiloo fee sabeeli Allahi awi idfaAAoo qaloo law naAAlamu qitalan laittabaAAnakum hum lilkufri yawmaithin aqrabu minhum lileemani yaqooloona biafwahihim ma laysa fee quloobihim waAllahu aAAlamu bima yaktumoona

English · Saheeh InternationalAnd that He might make evident those who are hypocrites. For it was said to them, "Come, fight in the way of Allah or [at least] defend." They said, "If we had known [there would be] fighting, we would have followed you." They were nearer to disbelief that day than to faith, saying with their mouths what was not in their hearts. And Allah is most Knowing of what they conceal -

German · Bubenheim & Elyasund damit Er diejenigen kennt, die heucheln, zu denen gesagt wurde: "Kommt her und kämpft auf Allahs Weg oder wehrt ab", worauf sie sagten: "Wenn wir zu kämpfen wüßten, würden wir euch wahrlich folgen." Sie waren an jenem Tag dem Unglauben näher als dem Glauben. Sie sagen mit ihren Mündern, was nicht in ihren Herzen ist. Doch Allah weiß sehr wohl, was sie verbergen.
