Surah 7 Al-A'raaf, ayah 164 (7:164)

Ayah 7:164

وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًا ٱللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا قَالُوا۟ مَعْذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ۝١٦٤

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWaith qalat ommatun minhum lima taAAithoona qawman Allahu muhlikuhum aw muAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan qaloo maAAthiratan ila rabbikum walaAAallahum yattaqoona

English · Saheeh InternationalAnd when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a people whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" they [the advisors] said, "To be absolved before your Lord and perhaps they may fear Him."

German · Bubenheim & ElyasUnd als eine Gemeinschaft von ihnen sagte: "Warum ermahnt ihr Leute, die Allah vernichten oder mit strenger Strafe strafen wird?", sagten sie: "Als eine Entschuldigung bei eurem Herrn und auf daß sie gottesfürchtig werden mögen."
