Surah 9 At-Tawba, ayah 114 (9:114)

Ayah 9:114

وَمَا كَانَ ٱسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَآ إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥٓ أَنَّهُۥ عَدُوٌّ لِّلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَأَوَّٰهٌ حَلِيمٌ۝١١٤

Arabic transliteration · Source: TanzilWama kana istighfaru ibraheema liabeehi illa AAan mawAAidatin waAAadaha iyyahu falamma tabayyana lahu annahu AAaduwwun lillahi tabarraa minhu inna ibraheema laawwahun haleemun

English · Saheeh InternationalAnd the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated himself from him. Indeed was Abraham compassionate and patient.

German · Bubenheim & ElyasUnd die Bitte Ibrahims um Vergebung für seinen Vater war nur wegen eines Versprechens, das er ihm gegeben hatte. Als es ihm aber klarwurde, daß er ein Feind Allahs war, sagte er sich von ihm los. Ibrahim war fürwahr weichherzig und nachsichtig.
